Politics: Politics of War And Torture Of Terrorists: What Constitutes Torture When You Are Dealing With A Terrorist?

What do you suppose would happen to you, if you were rendered to a prison in Uzbekistan, a country headed by a man who has been known to boil his enemies alive ? Is it torture to hang a man by his handcuffs from the ceiling overnight ? Other forms of torture include electrodes to the genitals, waterboarding, and plain old beatings by interpreters and mercenaries. I'm not going to list all forms of torture here. But you should know that torture as national policy has never been our national policy before.

Many people think it's okay to torture terrorist' suspects, that non-uniformed enemy combatants are a sub-class of humans. Whether it's been Karimov's prisons in Uzbekistan, Abu Graib or Guantanamo or some other location, those who've been tortured, themselves, or who have tortured, know what a slippery slope it is to slip beyond basic human norms. Torture, when part of national policy, has backlash,on the battlefield, internationally and at home.
